Incorporating Financial Education into Jordanian education system

Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), Chairman of the BoD of Al Hussein Fund for Excellence H.E. Dr. Ziad Fariz hosted a meeting today in Jerash Hall at CBJ. The meeting which was followed by an open discussion focused on the possibilities of launching a new pioneering project for including financial education in the Jordanian educational curriculum. 

The meeting was attended by H.E. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Dr. Amin Mahmoud, H.E. Minister of Education Dr. Mohammad Al Thneibat, H.E. Minister of Labor Nidal Katamine, H.E. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif, members of the board of directors of HFE, and the Governor’s deputies and other experts and stakeholders in the field of economic, financial and educational development in Jordan.

 

HE Dr. Fariz commenced the meeting by welcoming the attendants and guests, explained the meeting objectives, stressed on the importance of financial education and its impact on the promotion of culture and sound financial behaviors in the community, and in the financial and banking stability, as well as its impact on the vocational and economic future of youth in Jordan.

Mr. Mohammad Amayreh, Acting Executive Director of the Financial Stability Department at CBJ, gave then a brief presentation on the regulations and procedures taken by the Central Bank to ensure financial and banking stability in Jordan.

 

The main presentation was then given by Ms. Dima Bibi, CEO of INJAZ. Ms. Bibi gave a detailed presentation on the topic of financial education for youth and children. Bibi overviewed the development of financial education around different countries in the world and the resources needed to launch and implement such a project in Jordan.

 

Dr. Fariz conducted then an open discussion with the audience about the importance of the project and the possible resources that can be allocated for launching and implementing such a project.
